In the article entitled “Farmworkers go on strike in Mexico during Harvest,” the Newsela staff explores the issue of many of the Mexican farmworkers protesting against the low wages they earn. Besides the very low wages they earn, the farmworkers want government benefits including health care. The authors also explain how they want extra pay when they work overtime. Next, they want their own union and better lawyers to help carry our their needs. Finally, it is presented that the farmworkers just want better lives for their family and themselves, and they are going to keep on striking until they get that. From the view of Mexico’s Future 2, restoring order and stability, I agree with the protestors. We need to shelter our economy from foreign competition to allow our local farm businesses to take root and grow. We also need to create a better partnership between the industries and laborers. Lastly, we need to strengthen the unions we do have to be flexible to the farmworkers' needs.
I believe that us farmers dont get paid enough for our products, you make some great points about how the government should shelter our economy and let the local farmers sell their products.
I agree that we need to shelter our economy from foreign competition to protect our local farm businesses because the farmers barely earn enough money to support themselves and their family. I think that the farmers need to be treated fairly and equally and strengthening our economy could really help the farmers.
In the article entitled “Dry Season Reveals 17th Century Church,” Mexico News Daily explains how a 17th century church was discovered in Oaxaca, Mexico after when the water levels in an artificial reservoir. In addition, Mexico News Daily acknowledged that in the 1960s, the dam was built for a much needed water source and for fertile land. The author explained how people were angry with the dry season taking place because there would be low production. Even though the farmers and fishermen were angry, an archaeological treasure resurfaced. Finally, Mexico News Daily says how every time there is a dry season, a structure emerges, according to the Mexican people.
This drought is definitely ruining jobs for the people of Oaxaca, Mexico. My brother is a fisherman and this drought has given him almost no fish this season. Fishing and farming is crucial for so many of my friends and family. The discovery of the new church is great though. It helps keep our Mexican culture in check when all this turmoil is occurring. The Mexican people need to make sure we keep our culture intact.
In the online article, “Farmworkers go on strike in Mexico during harvest” by the Newsela Staff investigates the struggle of the workers who are hardly paid growing crops. Although, the Newsela staff has the first portion in the point of view of a young girl, it talks about the point of view from the other workers too. They explain how the low wage makes life difficult and all they want is increased salary. The farmers have stopped work and are threatening to quit if conditions don’t improve. The Newsela staff also discusses the need for a good lawyer and how it is hard to find one and represent them to achieve what they are protesting for.
I was the character Carolina Fernandez in this activity, on the card I was given nothing talked about farmers. She would probably have voted to help the farmers, to keep crime rates down, so her family and her remain safe. She would also want the farmers to be higher paid, to return back to their jobs and food prices will not increase.
Donald trump wants to build a wall to separate the mexican/american border. He wants Mexico to pay for it though. Mexico hates this idea and won’t support it. The people don’t support it either. Knowing trump, he will probably not back down though.
It would be rough for our person to go through that as he wants to go to college in the U.S. Legalization takes a while. This is true with many mexicans who want to become legal. If a big wall is there, it would help but also hurt the U.S and Mexico.
In the article entitled “Mexico makes first direct response to Trump: We're not paying for border wall” posted by The Guardian explains Mexico’s stance on Trump's border ideas. First, The Guardian tells us what Trump’s ideas are regarding mexico and the broder. The writer states that Trump expects Mexico to pay for the costly wall, that he wants built. The, they address what the people and leaders of Mexico think about Trump's plan. Lastly, The Guardian tells us that the leaders of Mexico, are not, in any way going to pay for the wall that Trump suggests.
From my political party focusing on restoring and stabilizing Mexico, we would support the leader's statement that we are not going to pay for something that we don’t even want. From my standpoint, Mexico needs to stand up for themselves and not be bullied into more debt. We need to learn from the past, and our poor decisions to better our future.
In the article entitled “A Comedy Team in Mexico Takes the Law into its Own Hands” by Azam Ahmed and Paulina Villegas describes how a team of two men are taking the law into their own hands. First, Ahmed and Villegas demonstrates how the pair bring justice. They men do it by playing little jokes or humiliating them and recording the whole thing. Then, they post the video so that the people get so embarrassed that they don’t do it again. Finally, Ahmed and Villegas illustrate that not all of their pranks go as they should go. More than once, they have gotten hit or cussed out because the subject was happy about being recorded. I believe that this is a good thing that two men are trying to right the wrong in our world. Even if it is by humiliating them in front of others. I think that them putting a funny twist on it makes it acceptable to our community. Since people higher up in the so called food chain were starting to not follow the law like they should be, the two individuals started to target police officers. They even got a few other people higher up in the rankings to copy them and do it too. It is nice to see commoners like me start to help out with our own community. They have even started to inspire me too.
You make a lot of good points and i agree with everything you said. It is definitely funny and interesting that people aren't afraid to go and embarrass others.
In the article entitled “Farmers go on Strike in Mexico during Harvest,” Newsela discusses farmworkers and their complaints on their income. Next, Newsela explains that farmworkers have been working in the same spot for several years, yet their income has not increased. The author states that these farmworkers are going on protest and causing schools and businesses to get shut down. Next, the author suggests that these issues are going to be extremely hard to overcome, but this riot may help them to get what they want.
I believe that the farmworkers should receive a stronger income for all of their hard work. In order to restore Mexico’s stability and brighten our future, we need to make the people happy, and give them what they deserve. These farmworkers have been working on the same farms for almost their whole lives, and yet they are getting nowhere and that is simply not right. We need to reward them for supplying Mexico with food and supplying companies with goods.
In the article titled, produce pickers go on stike in mexico, written by the newsela staff, talks about why are farmers are mad. They we all so mad they decided to go on strike. They protested and even shut down schools and streets. The farmers want higher pay and they also want free healthcare. Finally, the newsela staff wrote about the harsh conditions the people have to live in such as no clean running water.
I think my voter would be one of the people in this article. She would be protesting for higher pay for her work. She rases her daugher by herself and her farm is not making alot of money.
Article Summary: In the article entitled “Businesses plead for extortion strategy,” the Mexico News Daily staff explores the strategies that extortionists in Acapulco are using to obtain money and what authorities are planning to do to fix the problem. First, the Mexico News Daily staff explains that crime gangs are slipping messages under the doors of businesses with a phone number that the owners must call before a specific time. The author suggests that the owners are warned that if they don’t call, their business will be set on fire or their family members will be hurt. In addition, the Mexico News Daily staff discusses that while Mexico will not use violence to stop the extortionists, they have created a new Accredited Police State force that will operate within the state, and some members will be deployed to Acapulco to monitor the issue. Finally, the Mexico News Daily staff presents that while there is currently a problem with extortionists threatening business owners in Acapulco, they are working on strategies to fix the issue and prevent it from occurring in the future.
Editorial: Extortionists threatening local business owners in Acapulco is a major problem that needs to be addressed immediately. I believe that the crime gangs should be stopped and the government needs to ensure that this will not be repeated in any cities. I believe that this ongoing problem threatens the safety of our citizens and we need to restore order. As a factory worker, I would be scared to go to work everyday if threats to burn the premises were being slipped under the doors. Mexico has had trouble with drug traffickers and crime gangs in the past and I believe that if a stronger government and economy is created then we can put a stop to all of this.
I think that it is a problem that crime gangs are slipping messages under doors threatening people. I am glad that there is an Accredited Police State force to address the problem.

Unfortunately, Mexico City is is located in a high altitude valley which is surrounded by giant smog-trapping volcanic mountains. The author explains that the only way we can cut down on smog is by cutting down on on the car. Finally, Castillo presents that Mexico city is officially cutting down on more than one million cars and giving more public transportation. My name is Martin Eglas and I am a owner of a large scale farming in Mexico. This problem of banning cars in Mexico city which is near where I live and where all my crops go is a big problem for my business. If I am not aloud to drive my crops into the city then i will have no where to sell them which destroys my business. Like I said before my farming business is very big, therefore, I hire a lot of workers. Most of my workers live in the city and if there cars are taken away or forced to be sold then they have no way to get to work. All in all, this ban of cars in Mexico City will certainly be big problem for me.

Mexico is putting taxes on junk food items because they want to increase healthy eating habits. The reason they are doing this is because so many children and adults are overweight and are developing heart problems and other problems because of their eating and exercise habits.
Raphael In Raphael's opinion this is a good idea because this could potentially encourage people to eat healthy but just putting taxes on junk food is not enough because people may still be willing to pay more for what they want.
